Brush Cleansing!

Hello!!
I mentioned to my friend the last day after I washed my brushes how much I loved using them from clean again when... SHOCK HORROR, she said she had never ever washed her brushes... Ever. She will remain nameless to save face ;)

This is what I do:

Mix equal portions of washing up liquid and olive oil. This mixture works best for me as it cleanses the brushes perfectly and leaves them soft also!

So mix them two in a mixing bowl and dab each brush in it to coat JUST the bristles. Don't go past the silver part that holds them and the handle together as that may get loose and fall off, that would not be good! One by one, dip them all in and leave them at the side of the sink and leave it on for about 4-5 minutes.

Take the brush you dipped in first and with your hand under running water swirl the brush under the water and keep swirling it on your hand to activate the washing up liquid you should see all the yuck colour running down the sink! Nice!

Once you're happy it's clean and the water is no longer coloured, squeeze out the excess water with your hand and lay it flat on a towel.

Repeat these steps with all the brushes.

Lay all brushes out flat on the towel until they dry, probably over night.
There you go!  Beautifully clean makeup brushes that will apply your make up perfectly!!  Yay!

Catrice Makeup!!

Hello!!
Yesterday I went in to Penneys to pick up some ankle socks... (As you do) and I saw the Catrice makeup stand. I wouldn't usually be one to test these brands in penneys often, not due to the quality or anything but mainly because of the mess of them and they usually are all left with huge finger marks in the products that are NOT testers!!! Not cool!

Anywhos, yesterday was no such day! Everything was clean and in place!!
I have been meaning for a while to purchase the lip pencil "Spice" from MAC as a nude lip liner but never got around to doing so, and am I glad?!!!! I saw the PERFECT nude shade lip liner in a sleek retractable case for... Wait for it... €2.79.
I also picked up a lipgloss to match it. It would be rude not to! At €3.49 you couldn't really go wrong!

The liner is in the shade 020 Nude Religion and the lipgloss is called 030 Rose, Would You..?

When I came home and tried out these duo I was SO impressed! It is the perfect nude lip combination with a nice colour all the same. Blanked out lips are like a pet peeve to me! But these really really impressed me and with a nice bright eye colour for summer or any time a bright eye shade is my eye look of choice for the day, it's PERFECT! Happy!

Also, I picked up two bright single eye shadows. A carrot orange shade and a turquoise blue green shade, both have a slight shimmer and have a silky feel and great pigmentation. These were €3.29 each! Bargain!!
The turquoise one is shade 650 Petrol Shop Boys and the orange is 580 Carrots Of The Caribbean.
Honestly was so so pleasantly surprised with the pigment of all the products I bought and am pretty happy with the lip duo. I may have to stock up on these as its my favourite nude lip look to date, and I've tried quiet a few!! I love the quirky names also! I will certainly be trying out more Catrice products from here on!!

hdBROWS Goodies!!!

I added to my hdBROWS collection today in the means of an eye brow pencil and a tweezers. Both by the brand hdBROWS.

As I already had the hdBROWS eyebrow palette  and because I loved that product so much, I decided to purchase the above items to complete my eyebrows!! Haha

I have recently lightened my hair also, so there's my excuse to buy more products to suit... Right?!!!

Anyways, the pencil was €15 and the tweezers was on offer for €10. I don't know the original price but she said special offer and I had to have it, especially cos I have none at the minute! (I had a recent tragedy when my sister took my trusty Tweezerman to the states with her a month ago. ;) ) I purchased them in a salon in Galway called UptownGirl. The staff are so damn friendly!! I love it there!

The pencil is in the shade Brown. It is a really long pencil a little longer than a MAC lip pencil. So I feel it was okay value wise. The pigment is really good and a few light strokes was all I needed to get my colour preference. Then I filled in my brows more with the palette. I find this pencil really good for lining the shape. The only other brow pencil I have tried I a MAC one. It was retractable and just not easy or nice to use. The tip broke so many times!!! This one is much better for me!

The tweezers is a matte black colour and has a slanted tip. It is quiet sharp to begin with so care is needed at the start and be sure to hold the skin taught as to only pull the hair! This baby pulls out hair without any type of fuss! Really clean removal and no hair breakages or anything. The root comes straight out! I CANNOT STAND BAD TWEEZERS!!!!
This will replace my Tweezerman nicely... And for less than half the price!! Yay!

BarryM nail polish

Hello!!
There I was, walking down shop street yesterday in Galway when I saw the boots store. I tried to be strong, but to no avail. I decided to go in for a "look".
My eye was drawn towards the deal that was on in the BarryM Cosmetics stand. Spend €9 on any products and receive a free Limited Edition nail polish. Of course I went with the offer... Like, you can never have enough nail polish... Right??!

So the two full price items I bought were a long lasting lipstick (which I love and will review tomorrow) and a BarryM Gelly Nail Paint in the shade Greenberry. A lovely summery Mint green shade. The only thing I find about this polish that I don't really like is how thick the consistency is. Yes, it does leave a lovely "shellac-type gel finish" to the nail but it just takes forever to dry!! It could all be down to how impatient I am also though!!

The Limited Edition polish choice was either a bright yellow or a neon almost fluorescent pink colour. The lid of both also had a design on it. The yellow had an Aztec design and the pink had a zebra design. As I'm such a sucker for animal print, I obviously chose the pink!

I am soooo happy with the quality and consistency of this polish. It is really pigmented and goes on nice and light but has a great colour, even on the first coat! The end result after two coats is an almost matte finish fluorescent pink colour that I am in LOVE with (it dries super fast also)!!!

What are your thoughts on the BarryM nil collections?!

Night out makeup routine for blue eyes.

So this post will be on how I did my makeup for the night out last night, this is really tailored to make blue eyes pop but it works on any eye colour really.
First, I apply moisturiser all over my face. One that has no SPF preferably, as the SPF will anger the flash and you will end up having a white face! Keep this pattern up all throughout the process of your makeup products ie, don't have SPF in anything if you can. It will end up looking better and the flash will show your true makeup rather than reflecting back a white appearance.
Next, I apply MAC's Lustre Drops in the shade "Sun Rush". Little drops of shimmery tan glowing heaven these are!!!
I have shown what it looks like squeezed out onto my hand and rubbed in also! My iPhone didn't pick up the colour the best but trust me, it's class! :)
I apply this product all over my face. Personally, I cannot wear tan on my face so I use this to even out skintone when I have tan on my neck and body!

Next, conceal and highlight. Introducing my two little buddies which help me have flawless skin!! Smashbox's Hih Definition Concealer in shade "Light" and Smashbox's Photo Op under eye brightener.
This is a photo of my little friends! Really don't know what I would do without these... They are really great... And the best thing?? The brightener DOES NOT CREASE under the eye!!!
This is a swatch of both. The concealer is on the left and the brightener on the right.

I conceal any blemishes/redness with the concealer and I apply the brightener under the eye and around the year duct and under the brow bone. Leaving the lid free of product.

On the eyes, I primed the lids (as I do every day) with MAC's paint pot in "Painterly". This really lasts as long as you need it to without ever creasing and makes any eyeshadow live up to its true colour and pigment!

Then I apply my foundation. I used my HD foundation as I showed in my last post. In the shade 118.

Next, eyes.
The shadow in "bronze" was applied all over my lid. While the colour "Cranberry" was applied in my crease and blended out well upwards towards the brow bone. I blend with a clean brush though, so that the colour towards the brow bone is really faint. "Bronze" is also applied under the eye and "Cranberry" is applied just at the very corner of the under eye at the outside. Almost matching up with the same blended colour from the socket line.
Bronze on the left and Cranberry on the right. I need a new one soon! Love this colour for blue eyes!!

Both swatched with "Painterly" applied underneath.

Liquid liner is applied on the top lid in a small flick on the outer corner.

Two coats of mascara!!

Then my brows are filled in with my HDbrows palette.

I use the palette in shade "Vamp". I use the bottom two colours mixed together. These powder are so pigmented and do not budge! They are perfect after even sleeping in your make up all night... SHOCK HORROR! Honestly though, staying power from this bad boy is awesome!!

Face powder in "Medium Plus" from MAC's mineralise skinfinish range is dusted all over the face.

Contouring is done using a small round fluffy brush and the blush "Harmony" which is a matte colour.

I used the blush in "Melba" all from MAC. It is a peachy warm colour that brightens my skintone without adding an actual colour as I have a lot of drama with eyes and lips in this look!

Lips are primed with MAC's Prep and Prime lip primer.

Then the lipliner. MAC's "Magenta" is applied all over the lip.
I love this lipliner!! It is a deep blue-pink colour.
I apply the lipstick in "Saint Germain" just in the centre of the lips and blend with a small lip brush. These colours are amazing together!

Swatches of the two lip colours.
The lipstick Saint Germain is on top with the liner below that.
No flash was used to take any of my photos!
Here is a look at the finished look.
I will admit, the quality is pretty crap, but it was taken on my iPhone. It's just to get an idea!
There is no filter or flash on this photo. Again, apologies for the quality!!

Thanks for reading! <3

Which eyeshadows do you prefer for your eye colour?? Xx

Foundations I love!!

Looking for a new foundation...
Okay, here goes, I am a complete foundation geek. Yet, despite trying almost every type on the market I still haven't found my ideal match. I would, ideally, like three foundations. One, for daytime pale days. The second, for days with tan on, and the Third, for nights out (with tan obviously)!
So here goes my favourite picks for the said categories!
PS. I have combination skin!

Daytime pale days has to be my MAC Pro Longwear in the shade NC15. Super pale right??! It does a great job covering up blemishes and is easy to blend, long lasting, and matches my skintone fairly well. NC10 would be perfect!

Daytime tanned work makeup foundation would have to be Lancome's Teint Miracle number 01. Really like this foundation shade and isn't an orange tint at all!! Which is always good!! Blends perfectly to tan and has a beautiful dewy glow!

Last, my favourite foundation is MakeUp Forever HD foundation in shade 118. This stuff is really brilliant! Superb finish and there is no SPF so no attractive moon face in photos taken with a flash! Its really worth a try and lasts and that particular is slightly yellow based which i love and is perfect for my skin!! Just a pity its not stocked in Galway, but the makeup counter in Dublin will post it down!

Which foundation do you like to use on days where you may want to be different colours?? haha <3
